Young KTN Journalist Selected for Finnish Program

Meru based KTN reporter George Maringa has been selected to participate in the Foreign Correspondents’ Program (FCP) this summer in Finland. The highly competitive program was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This year’s program brings together 16 journalists from across the world to learn everything Finnish, from the world-renowned education system to innovative business solutions, and from vibrant urban life to nature.

Receiving the news of the selection, Maringa expressed his joy adding that he hadn’t expected it.

“It’s extremely humbling to be the only Kenyan selected to participate in this program and I am so grateful to God.”

Such opportunities are rare and as George puts it, young people shouldn’t tire from applying for them. “I have applied for similar opportunities in the past but did not make it. i believe in giving everything a try and doing my best while at it, and that is exactly what I did with FCP.” he says.

“Give it a try, rather than regret not doing it. You never know” George adds.

George has a special interest in features and human interest stories.
