“We decided that instead of waiting for someone to create a podcast that focuses on Africa, why not just create one”
The 1000 African Voices project is a project aimed at breaking down the boundaries that divide Africa. It’s founders are based in South Africa and they started out officially in 2017.
“I like listening to podcasts but I realized that a lot of the content that I was listening to was 99% American and it was very hard to find African content. We decided that instead of waiting for someone to create a podcast that focuses on Africa, why not just create one” Avhurengwi Nengovhela, the project’s host said.
We talked to Avhurengwi in a special edition of the project and got interesting insights on the vision that they have for Africa.
“The whole vision behind 1000 African Voices is to see how we can erase those, in my view, artificial politically motivated boundaries so that we end up with some level of a united Africa. This is Africa, we should be united beyond just the languages we speak.”
Similar to our goal of changing how the African narrative is told, the project aims at building synergies across the continent and get Africans working together for the progress of Africa.
